WBET was founded January 29, 1959 by a group of 20 retired teachers from the Broome and Tioga counties area and has now
grown to an active membership of well over 400 members.
The purpose of the organization is to promote, in conjunction with the zone and the state association, the economic,
social, and professional status of retired teachers.
Meetings are held in October, November, December, March, April, May and June, at varying places on varying days of
the week . At each meeting a social hour begins at 11AM with luncheon at Noon followed by a business meeting and program.
Our newspaper, the "UPDATE" is published 8 times a year. An August edition is issued in addition to one issue
for each monthly meeting.
